Reilly's Road: The Mike Reilly Band
"Veteran bluesman Mike Reilly refers to himself as "the
Forrest Gump of Rock," having crossed musical paths with so many of his musical heroes it's ridiculous. His newly-released
Reilly's Road is a collection of songs reflecting the outcome of some of these meetings. Reilly leads the way through
everything from horn-driven blues raunch ("Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed" with Elvin Bishop and Taj Mahal),
to Latin-flavored butt-shakers like "Lamar's Tune" (written with the late Lamar Williams of Sea Level). Reilly
even manages to coax Garth Hudson, the Band's elusive keyboard wizard, out for trip to "Lefty's Bar & Grill."
Reilly and his gang pull off a killer live version of "Hot Lanta," laying into the classic ABB instrumental. Of
course, it doesn't hurt to have buds Dangerous Dan Toler on guitar and Brother Gregg himself behind the B-3, either. All
in all, Reilly's Road is a powerful document of a veteran player living out his dreams."
